Social/Emotional Resources
I hope all of our students and families are well during this unprecedented time. I have to say that I really miss all of our amazing students and the amazing smiles that I would be greeted by in the mornings and throughout the day. I have been thinking of the students and the families within our community non-stop since being informed of the school closures.
I have been so impressed by our amazing administration, teachers, and staff with the efforts that they have been making to try and stay in contact with our students. I have seen teachers create online art lessons, videos of story telling, and links of resources so that the students can continue to grow academically. I am beyond grateful to be part of such an amazing team!
I have to also state that I am so excited and humbled by the support that our families have given and continue to give to the students and their academic careers. I have heard from parents of their ongoing support by offering homeschooling for their students, introducing their students to virtual museums, and creating alternative methods of academic growth such as cooking meals. The support that you have given your child will create lasting memories and positive bonding for years to come.
This page contains resources for our staff and families to assist the students during the "Flatten the Curve" response to the COVID-19 virus. Please know that I am not advertising for any business but am merely attempting to offer some information on how to support the social/emotional well being of your student, family, and yourself during this confusing, stressful, and tragic time.
I thank the families, the staff, and especially the students for allowing me the opportunity to join you through out the school year. My goal is to be able to continue to support you all during this time!
Talking to your child about COVID-19
I came across this video from Jourdan Dixon that describes what the Coronavirus is and why we are practicing social distancing. It is easy to follow and can be helpful when talking with your student about what this illness is and the precautions that are currently in place!

Conflict Resolution Activity
Prior to the school closure, I was introducing this activity within the classrooms for a class lesson. This activity works great when teaching your child how to resolve a conflict.
Have the two individuals that are in a conflict line up on one side or the other. When you are on the yellow footprint, you go first. Repeat what the other person said when you are stating, "I hear that...."
